Transportation in Barcelona

Barcelona can be reached from most of the major International airports. The airport is located 12 kilometres towards the south of the city. From the airport, you can reach the city by:

  • Subway (L9)
  • Taxi (Journey time: 20'-30', price: 30-35 euro)
  • Express bus service (Aerobus A1 and Aerobus A2, for Terminals 1 and 2, respectively. Journey time: 35', tickets: 5.90 euro for one-way and 10.20 euro for round-trip) http://www.aerobusbcn.com
  • RENFE train to either Barcelona Sants or Passeig de Gracia stations (Journey time: 25', tickets: 4.10 euro or using the card "T10 (Zone 1)", see below). Note that the train station is based at terminal T2. Most probably, you will be arriving at terminal T1. A free shuttle bus runs continuously between terminals T1 and T2.

The city of Barcelona has a very efficient integrated public transportation system. The transport card "T10 (Zone 1)" for 10 trips (9.95 euro) can be bought at subway stations or at the train station of the airport. It may be used indistinctly in the Metro, FGC subway, RENFE train or Barcelona buses, and allows an unlimited number of transfers in Zone 1 during 1h 15'. The "T10 (Zone 1)" card is also valid on the RENFE train from and to the airport.

Revetlla de Sant Joan

Before planning your trip to Barcelona you should take into account the following fact. On the night of 23rd of June there is a big celebration, the “revetlla de Sant Joan”, where you would see fire works, people moving and partying everywhere, drinking cava and eating some special pastries. But you might hear also very annoying firecrackers, even during the day, also on the 24th, as part of the same celebrations. If you like parties, it is a good chance that you might join in. If you don´t … be patient and don’t get scared with the firecrackers … (see this link for more information)
